CSL Wellington Golf Day at Ōtaki Golf Club

Powered by great partners, average weather, and questionable swings

CSL Wellington recently escaped the office and headed north to the ever‑reliable Ōtaki Golf Club for a golf day with our valued suppliers and customers. Nestled in the heart of the Kāpiti Coast, the course delivered its usual mix of classic fairways, tricky greens, and just enough wind and rain to remind us all that this is, in fact, New Zealand.

While the weather had its moments (some wetter than others), it didn’t stop the golf, the banter, or the creative interpretation of the rules. Despite conditions that ranged from “not bad” to “are we still playing?”, the day was full of good company, questionable club choices, and some surprisingly decent shots.

A big thank you goes to our fantastic sponsors who helped make the day happen: Surveillance Technology, Dicker Data, Motorola Solutions, Channel Ten, Milestone Systems, and Axis Communications. Their ongoing support of CSL Wellington—and their tolerance of golfers under pressure—was greatly appreciated.

Of course, the real highlight of the day was the awards, where technical excellence took a back seat to entertainment value:

  • Oudom proudly claimed the Biggest Duvet award, after demonstrating a swing so committed it attempted earthworks on behalf of Ōtaki Golf Club.

  • Ljubo won Most Accurate Drive, with a shot so precisely aimed it successfully located a power pylon—proving once and for all that infrastructure can be a target.

  • The Wellington City Council team earned the Most Endurance award, heroically completing all 18 holes in persistent rain, refusing to quit, complain (too much), or accept that a warm café existed nearby.

Despite the weather’s best efforts, the day was a huge success and a great reminder of the strong relationships CSL Wellington has with its suppliers and customers. We look forward to doing it all again—preferably with clearer skies, drier socks, and fewer interactions with electrical infrastructure.
